This project is a speakeasy bar, it's also a restaurant, and a wine shop locates in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This project got inspiration from the wine cellar. We use raw materials such as rough wood, stone tiles, concrete to create an imitation of an old wine cellar. The general dark color and the warm yellow light created a mysterious space. When the customers come into this bar, they will feel like getting into a hidden wine cellar by passing through a particular steel vault door.

The difficulty is that the new bar was renovated based on an ancient French colonial house that has a weak structure. However, it's also an advantage to help the bar has an old atmosphere like an old wine cellar. The second difficulty is that some materials couldn't be found or be like the design since the budget was not allowed. Thus designers and constructors created some imitative materials from cheap ones. The third issue is lighting. The client required a design to satisfy three functions of the project, restaurant - bar - wine shop. Designers decided to use dimmable lighting in some parts of the building to create flexible light, bright at daytime, and dark at nighttime.

This project is an artistic combination between roughness and modernity, imagination, and functionality.
